CHRISTOPHER
CROSS
-and-
STARSHIP: FEATURING MICKEY THOMAS
Christopher Cross virtually
defined adult contemporary radio with a series of smoothly sophisticated ballads
and contemporary pop, including the #1 hit, “Sailing”, the lead single “Ride
Like the Wind” and Top 20 hits, “Never Be the Same” and “Say You'll Be Mine”.
Christopher Cross received an unprecedented and record-setting five Grammys in
1981, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “Sailing.” He soon
scored a second #1, as well as an Academy Award, with “Arthur's Theme (Best That
You Can Do)”. Adding to his accomplishments: one Golden Globe Award, nine
million worldwide album sales, four #1 singles and nine Top 20/AC hits.
Christopher Cross continues to tour and produce new, insightful and
sophisticated music.
Starship:
Featuring Mickey Thomas is
one of the most iconic rock bands from the eighties, recording several of the
decade’s biggest anthems, including Grammy nominated “We Built This
City”, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” and “Sara”. The resurrection of the
band still performing these hits today was started in 1979 when Mickey Thomas
joined Paul Kantner to re-form Jefferson Starship. In 1984, the band’s name was
changed to just Starship. In 1985, Starship released the album that would come
to define the eighties, Knee Deep in the Hoopla, which featured two #1 hits; the
album reached #7 on Billboard and went platinum. Starship followed-up their
initial success with their third #1 single in 18 months, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop
Us Now.” The current Starship features the longest running line-up in the
history of the band.
Don’t
miss joining your friends and family for a night of great music under the
stars!
The
event is perfect for families as it is set in a comfortable and safe
environment. Many families come early to get good seating and bring along a
picnic and games as they wait for the start of the evening. The Event Stage is
close to the park’s largest playground which is a plus for those with smaller
children. Concert attendees do need to bring their own lawn chairs or blanket
for seating. Food concessions will be available and while people are welcome to
bring in their own food or beverages, alcohol is not
permitted.
The
concert is held at Event Stage next to the Weston Community Center, inside of
the Weston Regional Park. For more information, please call 954-389-4321 or
