
The ArtsPark at Young Circle in
Downtown Hollywood will be filled with Spanish food, music and flair on December
16 when it hosts the ArtsPark Experience: Spain as part of Viva Florida 500, a
year-long celebration of Spain's 500-year history in the state.
Spanish flamenco singer Antonio
Carmona, former lead singer of the group Ketama, will perform a free concert
during the event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature a special
Spanish culinary experience with delicious Spanish cuisine. The night also
includes dancing, activities for kids, and more. The event is free and open to
the public.
Also at the ArtsPark that
evening: Bikini Jazz, a septet anchored by Cuban singer Eli de la O with an
ensemble of leading Latin jazz musicians; a performance by Baila Flamenco dance
school students to open the event; and a flamenco music and dance exhibition by
Juan Sobrino and Daniel Clocanas. The Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer team will
be on hand to honor Spain's 2010 World Cup championship squad. Renowned
food-artist Montse Guillen of Barcelona's Food Culture Museum will coordinate a
Spanish market, complete with a gigantic Spanish tortilla, paella, and other
delicacies. The market will bring the tastes of Spain to the ArtsPark.
