The ArtsPark at Young Circle in Downtown Hollywood will be filled with Spanish food, music and flair on December 16 when it hosts the ArtsPark Experience: Spain as part of Viva Florida 500, a year-long celebration of Spain's 500-year history in the state.
Spanish flamenco singer Antonio Carmona, former lead singer of the group Ketama, will perform a free concert during the event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature a special Spanish culinary experience with delicious Spanish cuisine. The night also includes dancing, activities for kids, and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Also at the ArtsPark that evening: Bikini Jazz, a septet anchored by Cuban singer Eli de la O with an ensemble of leading Latin jazz musicians; a performance by Baila Flamenco dance school students to open the event; and a flamenco music and dance exhibition by Juan Sobrino and Daniel Clocanas. The Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer team will be on hand to honor Spain's 2010 World Cup championship squad. Renowned food-artist Montse Guillen of Barcelona's Food Culture Museum will coordinate a Spanish market, complete with a gigantic Spanish tortilla, paella, and other delicacies.
